Project overview
The isolation of a new variant strain of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) from an outbreak in 2002 in NSW prompted an investigation into the effectiveness of current vaccination strategies.
Project objectives
Improve current vaccination strategies against IBV by:
- Assessing which vaccine or combination of vaccines provides the broadest level of cross protection; and
- Developing technologies to rapidly assess whether existing vaccines will provide protection against emerging variant strains of the virus.
Project progress
This project has been completed and the Final Report is available from the Poultry CRC (ISBN: 1 921010 17 7). The report's main recommendations can be read in the article, Maximising infectious bronchitis virus vaccine efficacy.
