James Cook University (JCU) specialises in tropical research and has main campus sites in the tropical Queensland cities of Townsville and Cairns, with additional campuses in Brisbane and Singapore. There are smaller sites in Mackay, Mount Isa and Thursday Island, and they deliver courses through education partners in Asia and the Pacific. Poultry related courses are focused on biological and agricultural practices in tropical regions, with subjects ranging from farm management, to ecenomics, to genetics.

  • Bachelor of Tropical Agriculture Sciences. This degree is one of the few worldwide that is taught principally from within an internationally known Tropical Biology School. As a result, students interact with a broad range of faculty and fellow students. JCU's Tropical Agricultural Science students are trained to view agricultural production systems as agroecosystems to be managed for multiple benefits and are equipped with the skills to make this possible.
