Massey University is one of New Zealands leading agricultural research institutes. Offering a wide range of agricultural science courses, Massey University has a long tradition of excellence in international cooperation. Offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, students can then choose to specialise in poultry science or animal science in general.

Undergraduate courses

  • Bachelor of Animal Science. A major in Animal Science will provide you with the knowledge and skills to choose from a wide range of exciting and interesting career opportunities. Animal Science is a key component of the agricultural industries, which provide New Zealand with much of its economic wealth.
  • Bachelor of AgriCommerce (BAgriCommerce). The BAgriCommerce degree prepares students to apply and integrate scientific, technological and business knowledge to meet current and emerging opportunities in the primary industries. Excellent career-building skills will prepare students for future leadership roles in the sector that continues to underpin the New Zealand economy.
  • Bachelor of AgriScience, BAgriScience. The BAgriScience degree prepares students to participate in the primary industries focusing on the overlapping areas of science, technology and business to meet current and emerging opportunities in the primary industries.
  • Bachelor of Science (Physiology). A major in Physiology will give you knowledge of how animals and people work. It provides guidance on how that knowledge can be used to promote human health, well-being and positive lifestyle choices, animal health, welfare and production efficiency, and the conservation of wild and endangered animals.
  • Bachelor of Science, BSc. The hallmarks of Massey University's science degrees are flexibility and freedom of choice. You are not locked into a set study course, which means you are able to pursue those subjects and supporting subjects which attract your interest.
  • Diploma in AgriCommerce, DipAgriCommerce. The DipAgriCommerce programme is designed to provide you with the foundation for a broad education in agribusiness and its supporting sectors. DipAgriCommerce graduates may wish to continue studying for a further two years towards the BAgriCommerce.
  • Diploma in Agriculture (DipAg). The most important goal of the programme is to prepare students with the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude to manage farms in a changing social, economic and technological environment.
  • Graduate Diploma in Meat Industry Operations (GradDipMeatIndOp).The Graduate Diploma in Meat Industry Operations is designed for Diplomates in Meat Technology, holders of degrees or NZCE/NZCS and those who have no formal qualifications but considerable industrial experience to undertake higher learning.
