Australian Chicken Meat Federation's ‘Hatching Careers’ - School Project
The Australian Chicken Meat Federation's ‘Hatching Careers’ - School Project has attracted strong interest from schools around NSW where this trial is currently offered. In fact the ACMF has already filled all 15 places. Each of the schools will run the project during 2009 for a six-week period and will provide a report to us about who was involved, what the findings were etc. More information is available on-line, including guidelines that schools may wish to use independently provided they have the necessary knowledge and suitable facilities to undertake the project. The project aims at comparing the growth over a six-week period of ten meat birds and ten layers under identical conditions.
National Expansion of Queensland Schools' Education Competition
WPSA Schools Poultry Education Competition - 2008 has yet again seen the completion of another successful WPSA schools competition. Not only did many schools throughout QLD participate but for the first time schools from NSW and SA joined in making the 2008 WPSA competition a national school event success.
Vocational Education and Training in Schools
Vocational Educational and Training (VET) is conducted in secondary schools under a number of schemes. Over 95 per cent of Australia’s secondary schools offering senior secondary programs now offer VET to their senior students, which means students can gain practical work skills and nationally-recognised VET qualifications as part of their school education.
Australian School-Based Apprenticeship Incentives
Australian School-based Apprenticeships Incentives are designed to support employers who provide ongoing employment opportunities for Australian School-based Apprentices, assisting them to make a smooth transition from school to work. Employers may be eligible for an additional $750 commencement incentive for employing an Australian Apprentice in an endorsed Australian School-based Apprenticeship at Certificate II to IV level; and $750 for continuing to employ the young person after the student has completed Year 12. See the School-based Australian Apprentices employer incentives web site for more information.Australian Apprenticeships
If you are presently a secondary school student you may be able to start an Australian apprenticeship. Australian School-based Apprenticeships enable you to gain a vocational and technical qualification while completing your school studies. Many schools now offer the option for students to start Australian Apprenticeships while at school, and the first point of contact for information is your VET Coordinator or career advisers at your school.
