What is Poultryhub?
Poultryhub is a website that allows people involved or interested in poultry production to access and share a wide range of poultry related information, with a primary focus on commercial poultry production.
Who developed Poultryhub and why?
Poultryhub is being developed by the Australian Poultry Cooperative Research Centre (Poultry CRC) to encourage and facilitate communication and collaboration amongst those people involved in some way with the poultry industries. Establishing Poultryhub as a wiki encourages the poultry community to explore the potential of the Internet as an effective networking tool and its capacity for facilitating knowledge management.
What can the poultry industry get out of Poultryhub?
People involved in commercial poultry production, including farmers, industry personnel and researchers, can use Poultryhub to exchange ideas and information with the wider poultry industry community. The site includes:
- a constantly expanding, user-driven encyclopedia focussed on commercial poultry production that can be edited by site users;
- a list of organisations and informational web sites relevant to poultry production.
- a growing register of poultry industry personnel, producers, researchers, educators and support staff;
- education and training information relevant to the poultry industries and its supporting communities;
- a growing register of references, publications and resources relevant to poultry production, research, education or training;
- an overview of poultry-related research activities;
- a free community-driven newsletter that can be used to promote organisations and activities to the poultry community;
- free event promotion tools for those that don’t have budgets for dedicated websites;
- job classifieds (Jobs Available and Work Wanted) relevant to a career in the industries;
Poultryhub gives the entire community a flexible, open forum which allows each user to contribute their expertise and complement each other’s knowledge through the various collaborative and editing tools.
How do I create a user account?
- Locate the Log in / create account link in the top right of most pages and click on it.
- Select the Create an account option and fill in the required fields for Username, Password, etc.
- Copy from the User Template to easily create a user page of your own.
You're now ready to start editing articles in Poultrypedia or creating them from scratch. Be bold. Don't be afraid of making mistakes, as any edits are reversible. Use the Help pages for tips on editing and navigating.
How do I add information about a poultry-related event, person or development?
First, make sure you are logged in. Log in using your user name and password, or by creating a new account.
Adding event details
- The homepage displays the next 3 events under Upcoming events (with a full list of events here).
- Use the Add event form to add a poultry-related event to the list.
Adding a person to the list of People
- Poultryhub contains a list of People involved with the poultry industries, including industry personnel, producers, researchers, educators and support staff.

Adding a news item
- The homepage displays the 5 most recent news items as submitted by Poultryhub users.
- Choose Add your own news to submit a poultry-related news item of your own.
- Click on Read all peer posted news to view the current month's Newsletter items.
How do I add to the Job classifieds?
The homepage displays Job postings and Work wanted as posted by the poultry community, as well as relevant feeds from job sites.
You can add to Jobs available and Work wanted by using the forms provided at the top of each list.
