Project overview
This project was completed in December 2004 and built on a previous project that developed national welfare audit documentation for all sectors of the chicken meat industry. The current level of implementation of this national documentation was established and discussions were held with nine companies on the implementation of the documentation and to assist those who wished to integrate the program into their current Quality Assurance (QA) programs. A How-to guide was developed to aid companies to incorporate good animal welfare practices into their QA program based on the information contained within the Welfare Audit for the Chicken Meat Industry (See RIRDC Executive Summary).
