The Scottish Agricultural College is an innovative, knowledge-based organisation supporting the development of land-based communities and industries. The Avian Science Research Centre (ASRC) specialises in contract research for government and private sectors and provides the focus for SAC's avian-related research, technology transfer and education. Focusing on nutrition, health and welfare we also provide a consultancy service in avian veterinary and environmental audits (including impact assessments).

Poultry related courses

Undergraduate courses

  • Bachelor of Science/Agriculture (Hons) includes courses such as: Livestock Production Technology, Research Skills and Data Analysis and Animal Welfare and Behaviour. Upon successful completion of the 3 year Bachelor students move on to a 1 year Honours program.
  • HNC Poultry Productionis a one year full-time course dedicated to poultry studies, components include: Poultry Meat Production Systems, Poultry Egg Production Systems, Poultry Health, Poultry Welfare and Behaviour and more.
  • HND Agriculture is a 2 years full-time course dealing with agricultural issues such as: Livestock Management Systems, Livestock Nutrition, Pasture Management, Agricultural Produce: Quality and Processing.
  • SAC Diploma in Agriculture the Diploma in Agriculture provides a route into the Agriculture programme at SAC for those who leave school with Standard Grades or equivalent.
