Undergraduate courses

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. This applied science degree will provide you with a broad-based science training that focuses on the development of analytical, quantitative, computing and communication skills. You will learn how to apply the knowledge and principles of science to the understanding and management of production and processing of agricultural products, and to the management and conservation of natural resources.
  • Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience. The Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience was introduced in 2005 and involves studies in animal health and disease, genetics and biotechnology, animal behaviour, welfare and handling, reproduction, systems management (both natural and farming) and animal nutrition in the context of animal production, management, wildlife studies and research. It is an applied science degree blending a science foundation with fields specific to animal science and incorporating a large amount of practical work. Emphasis will be placed on the development of analytical, quantitative, computing and communication skills, as well as practical animal handling and management.
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science. The Faculty of Veterinary Science has introduced a completely revised and revitalised curriculum for its Bachelor of Veterinary Science. This exciting, innovative course produces graduates with the knowledge as well as the practical, personal, professional and generic skills to enable them to pursue many career options as veterinary scientists participating in the care and welfare of animals.

Poultry research

The University of Sydney's Poultry Research foundation sponsors industry related research, assists in the training of scientific personnel and acts in an industrial liaison capacity. The Foundation's contribution to the development of the Australian poultry and stockfeeds industries has been achieved through research programs directed at obtaining a better understanding of the metabolism and nutritional requirements of poultry.
