Areas of expertise

I am an Immunologist with 18 years of experience in avian immunology and development of poultry vaccines and therapeutics. I have built and lead a multi-disciplined research team that is acknowledged as an international leader in avian health research including avian immunology, genomics, RNAi, vaccines and therapeutics.

My multi-disciplinary research team has built a strong, internationally recognised expertise in the areas of avian immunology, genomics, RNAi, vaccines and therapeutics. This work has generated several patents that are in the process of commercialisation. Three years ago, we developed a research and business plan to produce transgenic chickens that are resistant to avian influenza. This work is funded by the world’s largest poultry breeding company and is one of CSIRO’s highest profile projects.
