Poultry science covers a diverse range of topics, including health, nutrition, environment, food safety, genetics, reproduction, immunology, microbiology, parasitology, pathology, pharmacology, product technology and so on. Underpinning all of these areas, are the fundamental principles of biological and biochemical processes.
Poultry production is highly advanced, and is one of the most important animal protein sources for humans. The rapid growth of the poultry industry has been possible owing to the timely and innovative application of frontier sciences in a framework of conventional selective breeding.
As the global population grows, the demand for poultry products will grow. This will occur in an increasingly challenging environment where the area of arable land decreases and water resources dwindle. In the meantime, greater numbers of people will demand products that are produced in an ethical and sustainable manner. More than ever, science will need to play a pivotal role in meeting these challenges.
In this section of Poultry Hub, a snapshot of various research topics is presented, together with a selected list of countries and regions, as a starter for those who are interested in either pursuing further studies or finding leads for collaboration. As such, the objective of constructing this section of Poultry Hub is, by no means, the provision of a comprehensive list of poultry research topics or research providers in the world. Of course, we welcome your suggestions for improvement and will endeavour to implement ideas that are useful to the broader audience and are achievable within our limited resources.
