Assistant Professor in Poultry Science – University of Saskatchewan

The Department of Animal and Poultry Science in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan invites outstanding applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in poultry science with specialization in nutrition and management. The successful candidate will join a strong, well established multidisciplinary research team with interests in aspects of poultry including nutrition, feed processing, welfare, toxicology, and physiology.

The successful candidate will have excellent disciplinary knowledge (Ph.D.) of poultry nutrition and management as well as knowledge of the poultry industry or a willingness to gain this knowledge. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, graduate supervision and research, and the ability to function in a team research environment. The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research program in poultry science that is extramurally-funded including from nationally competitive Tri-Agency programs. The successful candidate will teach in both undergraduate and graduate student programs, contribute actively to the outreach and engagement effort to the poultry industry, and participate in the administrative activities of the Department, College and University.

The advertised position is a critical element of the vision for multidisciplinary scientific strength in feeds, animal nutrition (including metabolism, toxicology, physiology) and management (including welfare) in the Colleges of Agriculture and Bioresources, Engineering and Veterinary Medicine. Extensive facilities are available to the successful candidate including the Poultry Centre, Canadian Feed Research Centre, Canadian Light Source and state-of-the-art analytical laboratories. The Poultry Centre is the base for teaching and research in Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan and consists of approximately 3000 m² of space, and includes a hatchery, gnotobiotic animal research facility, and facilities for broiler, laying hen and turkey research with a maximum capacity of approximately 43,000 birds per year.
