PHEW, that's our #chookchathack done and dusted for 2021. Here's what PH Director Tamsyn Crowley ahd to say:

“The Hack provided a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of students and to chat about the Australian poultry industry. I was impressed with their creativity, ideas and solutions. Congratulations to the winners. Our first hack was definitely a success and I’m now looking forward to making it an annual event.”

Congratulations to the winner of our photo comp Sarah Jane Kelly! This photo made it to the top of the pecking order because we were delighted by the portrayal of the warm and loving relationship a pet chook can bring.

There were so many wonderful images entered! We'll be sharing them soon!

WE HAVE A WINNER! Congratulations to Md Sohel Ra

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Congratulations to Md Sohel Rana from the University of New England, Australia for taking out first place!

Md provided the most convincing solution to our problem which the judges agreed was practical, well-researched and engaging. We'll be sharing his winning entry with you soon.

And in second place.... it's BACKYARD HEN - Stephanie Gobor from the University of Melbourne. Stephanie produces a well thought-out concept which considered the industry within a broader sustainability context.

Congratulations MD and Stephanie!

We had some truly incredible entries and were quite blown off our roosts by the effort the teams put in to creating engaging videos with creative ideas for the future of poultry.

Chook Chat Hack Judge Noella Powell grew up on farms across Western Australia, from the wheat belt to the great southern. Noella andalways wanted to work in the agricultural sector and contribute to rural Australia. She’s now working as the Innovation Engagement Coordinator at Australian Eggs.
