Environment and Sustainability Manager

Turosi Pty Ltd is a privately owned company with facilities in Victoria, Queensland and NSW, providing a full range of raw and cooked food solutions across a range of proteins to the retail and food service sectors.

A vacancy currently exists for an Environment and Sustainability Manager. This role will report to the General Manager, Technical and will be located at our Broadmeadows site in Victoria, and will require some travel to other sites and regions. This role would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career or has at least three years’ experience in a similar role.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, measuring and maintaining environmental and sustainability programs for Turosi and its stakeholders that promote sustainable stewardship of resources in line with the Australian State and Federal environmental legislation and licenses and customer expectations.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Complete development of an environmental management system against the underlying strategy of improving environmental compliance
  • Manage the environmental sustainability performance of Turosi by reducing impact on natural resource, maximise efficiency, promote behavioural change and maintain execution of Turosi’s sustainability strategic goals and actions
  • Work cross functionally to continually review, develop and implement policies and procedures that deliver the environmental sustainability strategy
  • Provide technical advice to maximise Environmental Sustainable Design principles during design implementation phase for all major projects
  • Ensure teams across Turosi are aware of and have relevant tools to ensure that sustainability principles are considered during change processes.
  • Continue sustainability education and behavioural change initiatives targeted at internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct and manage ongoing internal and external auditing, lifecycle analysis and environmental reporting requirements. Ensure ongoing environmental compliance monitoring and reporting for various Company specific licenses
  • Provide leadership during Investigation of  environmental incidents or non-compliance, determining the root cause and corrective/preventative actions.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in environment, sustainability, or an equivalent discipline.  Experience in a manufacturing/FMCG or complex, highly regulated environment and the end to end development and implementation of EMS programs is preferred. You must be able to work both independently and in a team, demonstrate leadership skills and display influencing skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the Company. An ability to undertake investigative research to obtain, clarify and validate information which may require explanation and interpretation to more senior managers will be highly regarded.

About the role

An excellent career opportunity exists within our farming team, breeder division, NSW to be part of the general maintenance of the farm and welfare of our ducks.  We are a small and friendly team looking for a reliable person who enjoys working outdoors and with animals. Experience is preferred however for the right person we will provide full training. Enthusiasm for farm and animal work is the essential criteria.

This is a part-time position and you will be required to be available to work weekends when needed.  Our Farm has a small team, so it is very important you are always punctual and have good attendance.

Roster: Monday- Sunday 7am to 3pm

 

Reporting to the Farm Manager, your daily duties will include  

  • Feeding ducks
  • Cleaning sheds and site
  • Use of tractors to undertake farm maintenance
  • Maintain reporting system for recording all facets
  • Constantly maintain communication with team
  • Ensure birds welfare is maintained
  • Ensure the hygiene procedures are being maintained as per training and compliance with HACCP programs
  • Participate and follow rules and procedures Pepe’s Ducks WHS safety system

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Basic farming experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
  • Confidently work alone and in team and can follow instructions
  • Have good attention to deal and are proactive
  • Has Husbandry skills (preferred but training will be provided) and comfortable working with birds.
  • Ability to use and maintain farming equipment and has some knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Physically fit and energetic
  • Good understanding of animal welfare – training provided

Farming – Relief Manager

We are a friendly team and are looking for a reliable person who enjoys working indoors, outdoors and with animals. The role offers a variety of interesting tasks to be achieved each day from managing the ducks to operating machinery to participating in farm maintenance.

Experience working with poultry and/or livestock is highly desirable and full training specific to this role will be provided.

This is a full-time position and requires availability to work weekends and public holidays and be assigned to various sites.

Farm Manager – North West Sydney Breeder Farm

An excellent career opportunity exists within our farming division to be actively involved working with our ducks. Our breeder farm is our nucleus breeder farm and as such the Farm Manager role is key to ensuring the continual quality of our birds. The role requires a person who has an enthusiasm for farming and can take on the responsibility of managing a farm on a Full Time Permanent basis.

We are a friendly team and are looking for a reliable person who enjoys working indoors, outdoors and with animals. The role offers a variety of interesting tasks to be achieved each day from managing the ducks to operating machinery to participating in farm maintenance.

Experience working with poultry and/or livestock is highly desirable and full training specific to this role will be provided.

This is a full-time position and requires availability to work weekends and public holidays.

An attractive benefits package is available for the right candidate, accommodation (a house) will be provided on site with all utilities included  plus a phone allowance.
